I'd love to Nicki. Always keen to meet new faces :) I'm at bdm@hotpj.co.nz - Hot Pyjama Productions graphic design agency. We're based right in the centre of Christchurch so plenty of coffee places around us!

Haha no problem. Yeah just go to www.facebook.com/usernames but make sure you're setting it for your page (and not your profile by accident). And once it's set, it can't be changed!

Great stuff :) Yeah you can become a fan of a page or you can add a page to your own page's fans ... yeah ... I think that's right! I've suggested your page to 5 or 6 business types in NZ so hopefully you'll have enough fans soon and can book-in th…

Whoops, looks like there's something wrong with the html in my reply above! Clicking on the links probably won't work but just put those addresses into your web browser. For the username setup, you need to be logged into Facebook first. Feel free to…

Facebook Pages need a lot of work - not so much on the pages themselves but on the process used to build one! I've found Facebook doesn't have the most intuitive menu system, and I've worked with a few people who have made a profile instead of a pag…

What have you done this week to market your website?

We often hear website owners say that they need their site to “start generating more business” before they spend more money on it. What they fail to do is put any effort into marketing their site to draw in visitors, or update their site with new and relevant information that will be of interest to site visitors, or have a compelling offer.

I liken this to opening a shop on the 42nd floor of a building without any signage or advertising letting customers know it exists or what it offers; a shop… Continue

Twitter - Adult Rated

Just quickly, and to dispel a few myths, Twitter is not for kids and IS for business.

I recently read an article in NZ Marketing magazine by a well-known marketing professional that said “Understand the market of your clients. If their target market is middle-aged decision-makers, these people simple are not going to be on Facebook, Twitter or even Linked-In for business.”

Personally, I have made a great many business connections through Twitter. I connect with business professionals on a dail… Continue

Before the term ‘graphic design‘ came into vogue, it was known as ‘commercial art’ - art for the purpose of commerce - to sell stuff! This is different from the ‘fine art’ we see hanging in city galleries. When I was at design school (many years ago), we were seen by our fine art contemporaries as prostitutes of our art. I had no pretensions so this never bothered… Continue

Hi Mark,

can you please give me an idea as to how much it would cost to put a logo together for me. Perhaps a ballpark figure? I'm looking for something clean. Maybe it would be good to meet and discuss what I'm looking for.

Dean.
