The conference sounds like a wonderful place to be, and although I can't make it this year, I promise myself that I will make it next year, Wendy.
I have just re-joined NSA since moving back into Auckland from a year in the deep south of Oamaru (which sadly was a bit too far away for me to get to the ChCh Chapter meetings). I am relatively new to the speaking business as I have so far given talks to smaller groups about Homeopathy and how you can use it to change your life. I am so excited about honing my skills (doing a wonderful course with Sally Mabelle to help with that, by the way), and about getting bigger speaking 'gigs'. Now that I have a marketing professional working with me we have decided my speciality area will be "The Menopause...that wonderful Gateway to the Third Age of Woman, and how it can be enjoyed...not endured". I look forward to networking with all of you. I like the way you organised yourself Scott, and also I share my biggest success with Rachel in that I have always had so much to share that I was diluting my market, and this last year I have honed in on a specialty area (I am already being called "The Menopause Lady" locally), and safe in the knowledge that this does not exclude me from talking about, and treating, other issues that face people.

Who else is heading to Sydney in March for NSAA Convention. I went to the Convention in Melbourne this year and highly recommend it. We could have a Vbiz Speakers drink session.

Hello all.

I'm another NSANZ-er, from Christchurch, also active in the chapter here.

I think my biggest success for the year was honing in on the area that I really want to speak about: how our biases, stereotype and labels limit ourselves and others.

Now that I have presented the keynote a couple of times my goal for 2009 is to hone it, develop my ideas, and get a book finished by 30 June.

That, and to help make sure the Speaking Professionally conference on 5th March is a hit.

Hello fellow posters,
It's great to have the chance to post with other speakers. I started my career in speaking by accident, it all started when I found myself organising a group of property investors that belonged to a NZ based property forum. I soon became the Christchurch event’s organiser, this entailed getting people along to a meal and a chat every second month or so. To keep the meetings interesting I ask prominent people in property related industries to come along and talk about themselves and what worked for them in their investment portfolio's. It also gave me and the invited speaker a chance to advertise our own businesses to the group. It soon became quite a hit so I started several other 'specialty group' which allowed similar minded people to meet up in 'their' particular field of property investing. This caught the eye of a nationwide property educator (Kerry Christian from How2) and I now speak at his workshops up and down the country as How2's financial expert. It has helped grow my business on a scale that I had not anticipated. It's fantastic for me and my business and I enjoy educating people about finances and the in’s and out’s of home loans.

Hello Wendy. Like you, I've been speaking professionally here in NZ and and internationally. As a globe-trotting TV correspondent, I speak on many communication and media topics as well as providing motivational speeches as well. Would love to hear more about your adventures!

Hi Great to join this group. Would love to see more of our Pro Speakers here. I have had an amazing speaking year with gigs in NZ, Australia and Chicago to name a few. I am an active member of NSANZ Christchurch Chapter and love the speaking part of my business.
I am excited about what 2009 will bring as both a published author and Professional Speaker.
I would love to hear about the successes and challenges of our fellow speaking members
