Hi Debra,
I'm on Twitter. http://twitter.com/heikemiller.
It depends on the business how it would be going for a NZ business. I guess if you are able to sell products or services online, such as a consultant or coach, you might do well on Twitter, but if your business mainly targets the NZ market it's probably not worthwhile.
I'm mainly on there to learn from the "big guns" in blogging, facebook, etc. If you are interested in Facebook marketing, it's quite beneficial when you add Mari Smith to your Twitter follows because she always posts lots of advice. Same applies to the pro bloggers, many give out a wealth of information.
I've just joined as well - http://twitter.com/RobertHuggins
Will have to find my way around and work out what I'm supposed to be doing..!!!
Great, thanks JohnWas not really active on twitter but saw several people that were enthusiastic about it also for business. Had a mini-seminar by Mark Shaw http://www.twitter.com/markshaw who gave me some tips and it really changed the equation. Strangely enough 25 new followers, 2 leads and could introduce two authors to each other that are now having the time of their lives.
Here's some pointers
Mark Shaw Twitter Seminar
Twitter is not the end all and be all
Twitter just another strand of your marketing
TO DO:
Get a following
Grow your following
By
30 minutes a day following anybody
Grow that consistently
Two Essentials:
Twello http://twellow.com, offers advanced search options and makes it possible to use more regional campains or interest focused. Fill out complete profile with good keywords in there so you are easy to find on relevant search terms.
Tweetdeck Http://tweetdeck.com, if your following and followers gets bigger you need this tool so as not to get flooded.
Video on how to get the most from Tweetdeck. http://TwitPWR.com/2t7/
Group and filter information
Spend half an hour one month consistently everday
3 things to tweet:
1. Social chit chat 20%
2. Sharing stuff resources 60%
3. Share what you do for a living 20%.
Search for things on twitter
Use it for Market research: get questions out and await the responses
Get market research results back
Put on a bio at Twello which offers more space to do so.
Photo on profile is a must!
Hope this helps

It would be good if everybody posted their twitter name so that we can follow. It is a good idea to add NZers to the followership. Mine are mostly from other countries and I always keep my eyes open for fellow kiwis.
